Valerie Barr

In 2006, a good friend taught Valerie to draw. That was the beginning of her adventure into painting that led her to experiment with many paint mediums. In 2013, Valerie received excellent instruction from a local artist and found she had a passion for watercolour. Upon retirement, she was able focus on this passion.

“I am very grateful for all the wonderful relationships I’ve found through painting and thankful for all of the local artists who have generously helped me along my creative journey. I paint for the challenge of representing things I love. Each new painting brings excitement – the opportunity to study and understand my subject and the composition. Completion of a successful painting brings great satisfaction and I look forward to the next painting, positive it will be better than the prior one. I am learning to see the world with new vision and I wish to share my feelings of attachment and familiarity that I express in my subjects.”
