Since 13, I’ve been teaching myself painting to capture emotions from the world around me. In 2019 I joined an emerging artists group exhibition at the Omineca Arts Centre in Prince George. After moving to Quadra Island this year, it’s inspired me to be more open with my art.
Combining the conflicting art styles of abstract and realism to create a unified piece, has allowed me to express inner turmoils of different emotions stemming from growing up around addictions that still haunt my family and I. I mainly use the portraits, animals, and plants around me as references. By using loose flowing lines, acrylic techniques, and vibrant complementary colours, I’m finally able to express myself. Finishing it off with my love for realistic details inspires me to paint.
