Melanie’s most recent work celebrates the peace and the possibilities of art-making with evocative figures, colourful landscapes, and open abstractions. She teases out the images, following the paint until something recognizable emerges. Midst the colour and the movement, there are Stories Waiting To Be Told. The creativity may begin with painting, but it doesn’t stop there. The viewer is invited to play, to pause and to wonder: “Now, what is happening here?” The viewer’s creative vision continues the exploration and is integral to the art in Melanie’s studio.
Past explorations include intricate mandalas, drypoints, monoprints, handmade books, and the Camino de Santiago series of 28 paintings and an accordion book. Melanie’s work is dedicated to peace – both inside and out... Her process of art-making can offer a path for the painter and the viewer. When we choose curiosity over certainty, we can begin to cultivate peace.
