Creativity, in one form or another, has always been a force in my life, either through art, music, or design. All those influences really came together when I took up painting in my 40s, and my world opened up in so many interesting new ways. I joined the Calgary Sketch Club and Calgary Community Painters, and through these groups took incredible workshops, exhibited at a number of shows, sat on the Board, and most importantly, enjoyed the company of like-minded people. Once I moved to Quadra Island, B.C. in 2012, I joined the Quadra Island Studio Tour, for both the weekend event and year-round. I was delighted to be juried into the Federation of Canadian Artists, and immediately joined the Arrowsmith Chapter of the FCA. I am also a member of the Campbell River Art Gallery/ Campbell River Arts Council. I paint acrylic landscapes in a Contemporary-Impressionist style. Vibrant colour is important to me, but I am careful to balance it with soft edges and quiet spaces. Like the impressionists, my work often portrays visible brushstrokes, a suggestion of movement, and the idea of taking an ordinary view and creating something extraordinary from it.
