“Being able to be creative has always been an outlet for me. I’ve loved creating art for as long as I can remember. I had a vibrant Nature infused childhood here on Quadra Island where my creativity was nurtured through a diverse coastline, our very own Quadra Island children’s centre, but most of all my Grandmother Pearl. I have vivid memories of her deconstructing chicken feed bags so that I could draw giant “murals” of beautiful nature scenery with her at my side.
Over the years I’ve enjoyed creating with different mediums, and my style has morphed into what it is present day. I also enjoy writing, and photography. But the attention to detail gives me peace of mind. I gravitate towards watercolor paint, copper and gold leaf, pressed flora of the nature that is so dear to my heart and archival ink pens.
Upon doing my undergrad arts degree in Psychology. I had the opportunity to do electives in fine arts and quickly revolted at how it sucked the joy out of the process of creating. Creating my art helps my own mind, and it is deeply interwoven in my own life story. I’ve had the privilege of selling it and using it to advocate as well as raise funds for mental health awareness and disparity. It’s a privilege to have a creative outlet and share that with the world. “
