Eve Jakabosky is a multidisciplinary artist and heavy duty sewer. Holding a BFA, BS and an Industrial Sewing Certificate, she runs a marine canvas and sail repair shop on Quadra Island. Her educational background in painting, environmental science and fisheries, mixed with her love of sailing, diving, snowboarding and climbing are what have inspired her current art bag line. She has set out to make everyday bags such as firewood totes, bike frame bags, dive duffels and more. Upcycling Dacron from retired sails, tents, marine enclosure off cuts and more, she has been making bags to use and building them tough as hell-tits. These bags have become antifastist and long-lastiest for withstanding bad people and rude weather. Her outHAUL line is wearable utilitarian art that is anti-waste and one-of-a-kind.
“I was advised to just make what I think is cool, so I’ve been trying to unlearn art theory and do just that. Now free to have fun with it, I make drawings and paintings on fabric to become things like lamps, costumes, heavy duty outerwear, anything. In a world of fast fashion and outdoor gear that breaks, I’m currently setting out to make gear that I feel good about and hopefully others will too.”
