Linda Elias
Linda has lived and worked on Quadra Island for 30 years, mostly working in healthcare while pursing creative interests part-time. Currently she spends her time immersing herself in fibre arts. Many university art classes and workshops have inspired her current work manipulating fabric by dying, printing and stitching.
Artwork that is textural, layered, colourful and reflective of natural objects is attractive to me. The medium I use to express these images is fabric. Shapes and colour play against each other differently with fabric as opposed to other mediums, because of the tension sewing adds and texture from various fibres. Pieces evolve as lines are drawn with thread, and layers are created using various techniques. Immersing myself in trying to build an image is an exciting process I value.
